Respiratory Therapy
Over 104 Combined Years of Service
Our department is staffed by five full-time Respiratory Therapists (RT), with over 104 combined years of service.
- Glenn Whatley, CRT
- Rick Bassett, CRT
- Kim Tutt, RRT
- Rick O'Brien, CRT
- Liz Collins, BS, RRT-NPS
RT's are "code team" members, and we are responsible for maintaining the airway and breathing of patients who are unable to do so on their own.
We monitor and maintain the mechanical ventilator and artificial airway devices.
We perform tests that help to diagnose lung and breathing disorders and recommend treatment methods. We also manage therapy to help patients recover lung function.
Currently in the US there are nearly 83,000 RTs. The respiratory care field is expected to grow not just faster than average over the next ten years, but at a rate of twice the average growth of most other occupations.
