YKHC departments honored at Allied Health Forum

Three departments from YKHC were recognized for their commitment to education for their employees, and for supporting clinical rotations from University of Alaska students.

YKHC's Dental, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments all host UAA students for clinical rotations. Additionally, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory have employees taking courses from UAA by distance delivery.

Certificates of appreciation were presented at the second Education/Industry Allied Health Forum in Anchorage on May 9. The certificates thank YKHC for "continuing commitment to the University of Alaska Anchorage" Dental Assisting Program, Radiologic Technology Program, and Medical Laboratory Technology Program.

YKHC also works with the University of Alaska Anchorage to provide nursing education in Bethel. YKHC has an ongoing relationship with the University of Alaska Fairbanks through Kuskokwim Campus. Since the Anchorage, Fairbanks and Southeast campuses offer different certificates and degrees, YKHC employees take courses from all three campuses of the University of Alaska.

Throughout the day-long forum, YKHC was recognized as a leader in supporting training and distance education. Presentations from UAA faculty included photos of YKHC limited licensure radiography students, and phlebotomists and clinical lab assistant students.

Participants in the Forum included faculty and staff from all three campuses of the University of Alaska, representatives from the Denali Commission and Rasmuson Foundation, Alaska Native Medical Center, YKHC, Fairbanks Memorial, and several other healthcare organizations.
