World AIDS Day— December 1, 2006

According to UNAIDS, about 40 million people are living with HIV throughout the world and that number increases in every region every day. During 2005 some 4.1 million people became infected with HIV.

World AIDS Day, always on the first day of December, is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and AIDS. It is an important reminder that HIV has not gone away. This year it is up to you, me and us to stop the spread of HIV and end prejudice.

Talking openly about HIV to your friends, family, colleagues or pupils is one of the most powerful ways of ending prejudice and preventing the spread of HIV.

Is there HIV in the Delta? Yes there is and the number of people with HIV is increasing.

Getting an HIV test is the only way to determine your HIV status. Be responsible. Take control. Take the test.

Testing is available at:
Bethel Health Center (Public Health) 543-2110
Bethel Family Clinic (20-minute Rapid Test) 543-3773
YKDR Hospital (20-minute Rapid Test) see your group practice provider
Circle of Care (20-minute Rapid Test) call for appointment 543-6486.
