YKHC’s Anchorage WIC office to close
In November, 2005, YKHC’s Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) went into partnership with St. Anthony Parish in Anchorage to expand WIC services to YK Delta residents living in Anchorage.
“After 19 months of serving the needy families, we are sorry to announce the closing of our doors effective June 29, 2007,” said YKHC WIC Director Ester Ocampo. “Federal funding cuts render it impossible for us to continue our services. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause our valued participants. We would like to extend our thanks to all of you for allowing us to serve you and for all those who supported our endeavors.”
The Anchorage office, located on South Klevins St. near Bragaw and Mt. View, was set up to serve residents from the YK Delta region who are WIC participants but discontinued their participation because they didn’t have access to WIC Program locations in Anchorage.
