Injury Control & EMS promotes pedestrian safety

YKHC's Injury Control and EMS Dept. has been in a reflective mood lately. As in reflective tape. The distribution of reflective tape is part of ICEMS's "Be Safe, Be Seen" theme.

"This fall over 4,900 feet of reflective tape has been distributed to about 3,500 people in Bethel and 24 surrounding villages." said ICEMS Coordinator Brian Lefferts.

The iron-on reflective tape isn't just for plain old stripes, although that is quite effective.

As you can see from the photos on this page, people have gone creative with patters and designs.

"Be Safe, Be Seen" presentations about pedestrian safety were given to 254 students at area schools and head start programs. The Bethel Women's Auxiliary joined in at the ME School Carnival. RurAlCap, community members and the Bethel Fire Department also contributed to the effort.
