YKHC Dental Department's Mr. Tooth joined Musher Andy Angstman and lead dog Zinc at Kilbuck Elementary School to kick off the mushing season and promote good oral health.

YKHC dental department kicked off the 2007-2008 mushing season with a presentation to 3rd and 4th graders at Kilbuck elementary school. The dental team, that included Mr. Tooth was joined by musher Andy Angstman and his lead dog Zinc.
Children learned about the importance of good brushing and flossing. The dangers of tobacco use were also explained. A slide presentation of healthy as well as unhealthy mouths were shown to the ‘oohs and ahhs' of the audience.
YKHC Dental Department would like to thank 3rd and 4th grade teachers and also Staci Gillilan, K-300 race coordinator.
Keep that smile healthy and make sure to floss and brush at least twice a day!
Hygienist moves on after 5 years
YKHC's Dental Hygienist and coordinator of the Smile Alaska Style oral health campaign, Rong Li, is leaving the Dental Dept. after five years. The "Smile Contest", held annually at the Camai Dance Festival, is now in its 19th year. Rong has designed the artwork for the popular button and posters for the campaign since joining YKHC's Dental Dept. in 2003.
Dental Dept. Director Edwin Algair said, "Rong's enthusiasm, professionalism and talented artwork will be missed by her colleagues and patients."
