Message from the President/CEO

FY2008 revenue exceeds expenses

In the December 2007 Messenger, I reported that because of our financial status we must solve the puzzle of working together to provide excellent health while not over-spending, a challenge that would require serious decisions and determined efforts.

The financial message for the 2008 fiscal cycle is plain and simple.

Our revenues exceeded our expenses.

I commend and appreciate the strength and hard work of the employees of our organization.

Together as a team, YKHC's employees delivered quality health care services under budget to our customers this year.

As for federal funding for the fiscal year 2009 (October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009), Congress passed a continuing resolution that will keep the federal government funded through March 6, 2009 at the fiscal year 2008 funding levels.

With the new fiscal year, the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation must reflect on the employees' successful cost-saving achievements of this last year and use that knowledge to take on the challenge of the federal "flat-funding" for the next five months.

The backbone of the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation is its employees. You are doing a great job!
