Remodeled waiting area for ER and Specialty Clinics.
Remodeling projects dress up hospital areas
Emergency Room & Specialty Clinic waiting areas receive a face lift
Due to lack of space and aging furniture, Clinical Facilities collaborated for nearly a year with the Emergency Room and Specialty Clinic to redesign their waiting areas and maximize the room available.
Cushions on the old furniture were worn and tape was being used to patch the seating for infection control purposes. Three separate areas were combined to create one larger space and the children's play area was removed for more room, since the Pediatric clinic has been relocated.
The new design, which was installed December 17-18, 2008, has increased the number of seats and incorporated furniture that is easy to clean and repair. Low walls now give an open feel and provide good visibility of patients for the staff. Future renovations will include a secure Specialty Clinic reception desk and enhanced lighting.
"This project was developed over the past year through consultation with Heather Hamlin, Louise Reed, Dr. Matthew Greenberg and others," said Ron Monigold, Sr., Director of Clinical Facilities. "Staff from the Hospital and CHSB maintenance departments assisted the furniture installers with storage, removal and installation of the furniture. We thank all that helped bring this project to completion."
OB remodel nears completion
The Obstetrics (OB) Department remodel is in its third phase and near completion. This phase provided the OB Department with a new nursery that will be able to house four infants at a time. The old nursery could only house one to two infants at most. The nursery will also have glazed windows for viewing from the lobby.
Also included in the remodel is a new intensive care isolation room, a new nurses' station, and upgraded storage and office space. Soon to be completed is the hallway flooring and ceiling tiles. The remodel is expected to be done within a couple of months.
Thank you to all of the employees and patients who have been so patient during this process!
