Lillian “Pahnem” Kinegak

January 2009 Health Aide of the Month

By Theresa Bean, Public Relations

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) would like to recognize Lillian “Pahnem” Kinegak of Bethel as the January 2009 Health Aide of the Month.

Initially hired by YKHC in 1977, Lillian works as a float Health Aide, who travels frequently to Lower Kalskag and Holy Cross. She is committed to Patient-Centered Excellence, often answering after-hour calls and working late into the night. Lillian has been commended for communicating well with doctors and medevac personnel, ensuring continuity of care is provided to all of her patients. She has also proven to be calm in emergency situations, relying on her training when, due to bad weather, medevac transports cannot make it or arrive late into the village where she is stationed.

“Lillian is very compassionate and caring, and sees that every patient is helped from beginning to end,” said Supervisor Instructor Martha Attie. “Even if her week is coming to an end she will make sure the patient gets all the help they need before she leaves.”

Lillian was honored during a March 2 reception in the Paul John Board room of the YKHC administrative building. Well done, Lillian and thank you for your excellent service!
