New Government travel ID requirements in effect now
by Tiara Peltola, TMC
A new government data-collection program, called Secure Flight, is in effect now for US air travel. This this affects all domestic and international commercial air passengers.
Passengers making airline reservations are required to provide additional personal information as part of aviation security enhancements recommended by the 9/11 Commission. When making or requesting reservations, you must provide your full name as it appears on your government issued ID card. Effective, Aug. 15, 2009, airlines must also be provided the passenger gender type.
Secure Flight does not require that the names on all of your IDs be identical, but passengers should make sure that the name they use when making a reservation matches the ID they will use when they check in.
For instance, if a passenger's driver's license reads "John C. Doe" and he plans to use that driver's license for ID purposes when traveling, he should make make his flight reservation using the exact name on the driver's license- "John C. Doe."
Please take the necessary actions to comply with this program so you can have a more hassle-free check-in process with your airline.
If you are a YKHC employee and Travel Management Center (TMC) has an employee travel profile for you, please provide your name as it appears on your ID that you use when traveling along with your date of birth so TMC can update your travel profile-907-677-7504
