Newly remodeled nurse station at the “Place to Have Babies” at the YK Delta Regional Hospital.

Newly remodeled nurse station at the “Place to Have Babies” at the YK Delta Regional Hospital.

New OB remodel nearing completion

Mothers of the delta will soon have a sweeter spot to have their babies. The Grand Opening has not yet been set, but is coming soon. The remodel included new delivery rooms, nursery, special care nursery, the main hallway (floors and ceilings), and new med and supply rooms. And the next project is going to be a dedicated C-Section room so that surgery does not have to be interrupted by an unexpected delivery.

"Irnivik" or "A Place to Have Babies" now has eight beds, almost half of what they used to have, but according to Tania Thomas, "The new rooms are a lot more private and comfortable. The ladies no longer need to go from the delivery room to the postpartum room. They now stay in the same room from the time they walk in through delivery and the time they leave. Our new OB is now more a family-centered care facility."

We look forward to the grand opening of the new OB.
