A faster form to patient care-CHAP Registration Process
YKHC's Community Health Aide Program has introduced a new workflow-registering Patient Encounter Forms (PEFs) electronically from the village clinics.
Each village clinic is network scanning PEFs and registration forms from their clinic directly to CHAP registration staff in Bethel. This is making the PEF electronic, and saving time and resources by not having to mail in paper copies every week, according to CHAP Clinical Compliance Officer Jessica Horras.
Registration backlogs from village clinics have been reduced from months to a matter of one to two days. Soon, CHAP will take over billing and coding for village clinics and, with added success, reduce the backlog on that side of the revenue cycle.
Each morning, Office Assistants and/or Health Aides scan the previous day's PEFs. These forms are instantly available for registration to input and for the supervisors in Bethel to look at documentation in real time.
Building on this recent success, CHAP hopes to continue on its patient care initiative to streamline administrative processes in the years to come.
