The Employee Appreciation ROUND-UP was a fantastic event! It could not have happened without tremendous collaboration across numerous YKHC departments.
Many are not aware of the contributions that are made behind the scenes. The Hospital Maintenance and Facilities staff set up the tents, assemble the grills, and provide a power source for the sound system.
Materials Management coordinates with Dietary Services on logistics and shuffling tables, chairs and food from the cafeteria to the picnic grounds. The residents and staff from McCann Center have done a phenomenal job this year by catching more than 100 fish, cleaning and cutting them for the cooking staff to throw them on the grill. In addition to the fish, McCann and Dietary picked more than five gallons of tundra blueberries for the tundra blueberry cobbler dessert.
With all 26 individuals at work in the Dietary department, their prep work started on the Monday before the Friday picnic. While preparing for the large event there was no interruption in service to patients or cafeteria customers. Dietary worked overtime starting Wednesday morning at 6 a.m., with some working very long shifts. An estimated 500 employees and perhaps an additional 250 friends or relatives of employees came to this year’s event.
Thank you to all of the departments, employees and individuals who assisted or volunteered with setting up the tents, hauling the chairs/tables, grilling the food, transporting the food, serving the food as well as clean up and logistics! Many thanks to the numerous sponsors and local business for providing door prizes as well.
