Health Aides

Health Aides provide primary (acute, chronic and prevention) health care and emergency care to those seeking health services at the village clinic. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, complete session I and II Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) training and Emergency Trauma Training (ETT) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and have excellent communication skills.

Health Practitioners

Health Practitioners provide primary (acute, chronic and prevention) health care and emergency care to those seeking health services at the village clinic. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, complete session I and II CHAP training and ETT or EMT, and have excellent communication skills. Candidates must also be able to lift 50+ lbs, be able to see better than 20/40 with corrective lenses (20/20 or 20/30 vision) and pass a hearing test in order to hear heartbeats with a stethoscope, hear lung sounds, and hear well enough to communicate on the telephone.

SRC Registered Nurse 

SRC Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for infants, children, adult and geriatric patients following established standards and practice. Provides quality nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate their care on an individual basis. Serves as a charge nurse as needed. Ensures that all persons in direct patient care do so with respect to the patient's rights and dignity. The education and experience required for a registered nurse position is a current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License and a graduate from an NLN approved school of nursing.

Physician's Assistant/Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife (PA, NP, CNM)

Physician's Assistant/Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife (PA, NP, CNM) must be board certified with a valid Alaska license (advisable but not necessary for federal employees), be responsible to maintain full licensure in the State of Alaska, be current on CME requirements, and have a valid DEA# (not necessary for federal employees).

Dentists

Dentists provide clinical dental services within the priorities of the YKHC Dental Department and assist in dental prevention and dental health education efforts in the subregional clinic and surrounding villages. Education and experience requirements for this job are a Doctor of Dental Science or Dentist Medical Doctor Degree from a dental school accredited by the commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Dental public health background, cross cultural experience, and/or two years practice in Y-K Delta area preferred.

Dental Assistants

Dental Assistants assist dentists in providing dental health care to the people of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Region by assisting patients in the clinic and over the phone and sharing clinical maintenance duties. Minimum job requirements are a high school diploma or GED, and one year practical experience as a dental assistant or trainee in clinic or certified dental assistant program from accredited school.

SRC Radiographic Technician

SRC Radiographic Technician performs radiographic examinations on all ages of patients, contributes to the efficient operation of the department and ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care. This job requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of CHA, EMT or other equivalent program. See job description for additional requirements. Computer experience desirable.

Billing Specialist/Coding Clerk-Trainee

Billing Specialist/Coding Clerk-Trainee assigns ICD-9 and CPT codes and perform concurrent and retrospective review of third party payer patients. Prepares timely accurate third party claims for services furnished by SRC while maintaining ethical billing practices and procedures. Job requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent. College level course in Medical Terminology desirable.

SRC HIS Technician

SRC HIS Technician creates and maintains health record files following prescribed guidelines and to train in the preparation of timely accurate assignment of RPMS data entry element for services provided by YKHC while maintaining Health Information Management procedures. Job requires a high school diploma or GED, and six months clerical experience preferred but will train.

Certified Coders

Certified Coders enter health record data into the Patient Care Component (PCC) System in the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), and SMS abstract or diagnosis verification systems. Reviews contents of medical records to identify the diagnosis and procedures documented in outpatient/inpatient records using the ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding systems. Assigns a diagnosis- related group to each record for hospital reimbursement. Job requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent. A two-year Health Information Management degree or completion of the AHIMA independent study program. Minimum of five years previous coding experience using all coding classifications as they relate to hospital reimbursement. Five years experience in a medical records department with emphasis on medical record review and content. Experience with Shared Medical Systems and/or Soft Med Health Information (MIRA) and Resource Patient Management Systems (RPMS) is preferred. One year RPMS and MIRA experience is preferred, but not required.

SRC Custodial Worker

SRC Custodial Worker performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain vacant client rooms, hallways and other assigned areas of the clinic. The job requirements are completion of the eighth grade, and on the job training will be provided.

SRC Maintenance/Driver Technician

SRC Maintenance/Driver Technician performs work in the operations and/ or monitoring of the heating system, water system, filtration system, and general preventative maintenance. Job requirements are a high school equivalent and attendance at trade/technical school preferred.

Medical Laboratory Assistants

Medical Laboratory Assistants collect lab specimens and perform basic laboratory tests and reporting of results. Job qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of on the job training, including at least one course of study in Medical Terminology or Anatomy and Physiology or similar lab related topic(s).

SRC Registration-Business Office Technicians

SRC Registration-Business Office Technicians will collect, update and input patient demographics, history, and insurance information into the appropriate health registration system. Enter order of insurance for patient visits. Responsible for timely collection, review and preparation of patient charge documents. Occasional posting of charges and payments. Job requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent. College level course in Medical Terminology desirable. Six months computer experience-IBM (or compatible) computer experience or class credits including MS Excel and Word. Filing and experience with printers, photocopiers, fax machines, and mult-line phone systems desired.

SRC Operations Manager 

SRC Operations Manager manages the daily operations of the sub-regional clinic (SRC) to facilitate coordinated patient flow and care through the clinic and other providers, assuring current and accurate medical records, providing information needed to optimize reimbursement for clinics services, and furnishing documentation needed by YKHC to effectively manage the clinic. Managers must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Business preferred, Associate Degree with management or supervisory experience may be substituted, and have at least four years experience in degree specialty plus a minimum of one year in administrative experience.

Director of SRC Operations

Director of SRC Operations provides direction and supervision for Sub- Regional Clinics operations and services as project manager and planner for future sub-regional clinics. The director must have a Bachelor's Degree in related field, Masters preferred. Must have at lease four years of management experience; two of these years must have been in a hospital setting. Advanced levels of education may be substituted for experience.

Village Clinicians

Village Clinicians engage clients and families in a therapeutic alliance. The clinician provides clinical assessment, collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team in treatment planning and supervises treatment of all clients. The clinician is an active participant in the design, implementation and evaluation of the therapeutic programs of the Behavioral Health System and provides training to the staff and community. The education requirements are a master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Nursing with specialty in Mental Health. Specialized training specifically in the field of substance abuse treatment. Supervised experience with children and their families performed at satisfactory level. Experience in cross- cultural setting preferable with Native American cultures.

Wellness Counselors

Wellness Counselors recognize and respond to a wide variety of human needs by providing crisis intervention, counseling, aftercare, and case management support to individuals within the village. They engage clients and families in a professional counseling relationship; perform clinical assessments within their expertise; provide therapeutic interventions as directed. The job requires a high school diploma or GED. Must commit to enroll in two year Rural Human Services certification program at the next appropriate entry point. Must develop with supervisor a plan to obtain Substance Abuse Counselor certification. Two years experience in the field of Community Services, may be volunteer work if documented. Demonstrates mature judgement. Resident of village where services provided is preferred.

Field Supervisors

Field Supervisors coordinate and manage the Behavioral Health intervention and Education Programs functioning in assigned regional villages. Advocates for family participation in all areas of assessment, designing, implementation, and evaluation of system of care. Represents the native cultural perspective in all planning. Job requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent, three years successful experience providing village based human services required, and a year supervisory experience preferred.

Home Care Services

The YKHC Home Care Department provides personal care services to people in their homes. Services include light housekeeping, personal hygiene, reminding clients to take medication, or meal preparation. For more information about the following positions call Home Care at 1-800-764-6470.

Patient Care Attendant/Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)

Patient Care Attendant/Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) provide direct personal care services to clients as instructed in the client's Individualized Plan of Care developed and supervised by the Registered Nurse Case Manager. Job requirements are a GED or high school diploma, current CNA license or must successfully complete training, current CPR (take or pass training) certificate, and Yup'ik/Cup'ik & English speaker preferred.

Respite Care Workers 

Respite Care Workers provide respite care in the client's home with assistance in activities of daily living and provide relief for the client's caregivers. Candidates for this job must be 18 years or older.
