Qavartarvik - A Place to Sleep
Qavartarvik, YKHC's Hostel, is near the hospital and the Community Health Services Building. |
Qavartarvik, YKHC's hostel, is available for use by Natives and Non-Natives who are from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Region villages and have come to Bethel for medical care. There is a fee for staying at the hostel, so guests need to come with a way to pay for lodging. There is also a refundable key deposit. Qavartarvik is a certified Medicaid facility and accepts Medicaid vouchers. A medical provider must make the referral to Qavartarvik.
We can accommodate up to 50 guests in a variety of room combinations ranging from single rooms to studio apartments. Cots and cribs are available when needed. There is a communal kitchen, day room and coin-operated laundry facility. Guests are responsible for bringing their own personal care items like shampoo, toothbrushes, etc., as well as any baby supplies like diapers and formula. The hostel is within walking distance of the Hospital and the Community Health Services Building. Guests are expected to follow the house rules during their stay. Because space is limited, patients are asked to leave children and other family members at home unless they are coming for treatment. Of course, spouses should come if a child or spouse is critically ill.
