Marshall is Clinic of the Month for September, 2003
by Balassa Larson, Supervisor/Instructor

I have recommended for the village of Marshall to be the clinic of the because of their high standard of clinic management and excellent job performance, and especially because of their teamwork.

There are many tasks every clinic team is required to perform besides providing health care to their community. The clinic staff has lived up to all the responsibilities of the duties assigned to them. Their communication, reporting and meetings are done well and on time. Some clinics we supervise are worthy of the recognition because the staff interacts so well. Marshall is one of those clinics. As Supervisors, we have found it is imperative to good communication to have weekly staff meetings; and this clinic does have meetings regularly. In addition, this team's documentation of the work they do is excellent in both detail and scope.

One of the signs of a well-functioning clinic staff is how they handle disagreement and conflict. The Marshall clinic staff has done an outstanding job in avoiding conflict among themselves and keeping the focus of their attention on patient care. They are very supportive of peers and take the responsibility of giving their assistance when needed. During emergency situations they are a totally cohesive team and are proud of how well they handle these difficult situations. The people of Marshall are very fortunate to have such caring healthcare providers.

We are proud of this dedicated healthcare team and support their continuing efforts to provide the very best healthcare available in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.

Congratulations to the Marshall clinic staff--Augusta Askoak, CHP and Lead Health Aide; Elizabeth Fitka, CHP, State Certification Board Representative; Dora Pitka, CHA.
