Learning Center - Programs Under Development
PROGRAMS CURRENTLY UNDER DEVELOPMENTAssociates Degree in Nursing - Bethel-based
The Learning Center has taken a key role in the development of a distance-delivered Associates Degree in Nursing offered in Bethel. The University of Alaska has committed to providing the program in Bethel in January, 2004. We are working to identify our first cohort, provide the required pre-requisites, and prepare this first class with the tools necessary to succeed in this important program. Kuskokwim Campus - UAF and YKHC are partnering to ensure that our students will become Registered Nurses at YKHC by December, 2006, furthering the commitment of YKHC to "grow our own."
Construction Trades Apprenticeship Program
YKHC supports local hire in all construction projects and will complete approximately $18 million in projects in FY 2002. YKHC's intent is to develop a recognized and registered apprenticeship program called the Construction Trades Apprenticeship Program (CTAP). The apprenticeship program will provide a seamless flow for apprentices in the service area to become skilled tradesmen employed by YKHC. Each apprentice will be matched with a qualified journeyman to provide hands-on training for successful completion of their chosen trade.
Mandatory Management/Supervisor Training
This program is currently under development. Other initiatives in this category are the Certified Public Manager courses delivered by the Kuskokwim Campus for the fall term 2003. Participants successfully completing the coursework will be eligible to sit for certification by the Program Administrators.
Team Training
The Learning Center will be developing a Team Training session for the New Employee Orientation as required by the JCAHO as well as a full day session for managers within the organization. The training will be delivered by Learning Center staff as well as other interested managers.
