I made the recommendation that Akiak be the village Clinic Of The Month for February 2004. Akiak clinic has three Community Health Aides and one Community Health Practitioner. The staff in Akiak is hard-working. Complete, effective health care is their goal at all times. Because effective patient care is always first in their minds. They seek advice from other medical providers and their supervisor in order to bring the best health care to the people of their village. They are very good at communicating their concerns, questions, clinical skill needs, and leave requests.
Presently, they are working very hard on improving immunizations and Well Child exams in the village in order to improve the overall health of the village. In January, 2004, they completed nearly 125 TB tests in two days. That is very excellent and a job well done. When we use teamwork it really works!
They manage their health care, paperwork, and, at the same time, stay close to their traditional cultural way and follow the advice of their elders.
CONGRATULATIONS! Dororthy Andrews, CHP; Titiana Albrite, CHA II; Olinka Jones, CHA II; Paula Napoka, CHA II; and Office Assistant Stephanie Ivan.
