There was a two-day workshop on the Fundamentals of HIV and the Fundamentals of HIV Counseling, Risk Assessment and Risk Reduction on February 17 and 18. Organizing the event and presenting were Andrea Savage, Project Coordinator and Carl Evans, Case Manager/Outreach Worker with the Circle of Care Project, a Federally-funded grant whose goal is to increase the number of people living in rural Alaska who know their HIV status.
Leif Albertson, Health Program Associate with Public Health Nursing, presented on STDs and partner notification. Also presenting were Tim Juliussen, Outreach Worker, and Michael Covone, Manager with the HIV/AIDS Prevention Program of the Alaska Native Health Board.
Participants included School Social Workers and employees from Village Operations, Public Health Nursing, the Tundra Center, the Tundra Women's Coalition and a Provider from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta RegionalHospital.
