Todd Henderson teaches Crisis Intervention course
Starting this month, Todd Henderson will begin training hospital personnel in Non-Violence Crisis Intervention at YKHC. Hospital staff, who are involved with patient care or make contact with other individuals, are required to take the workshop as part of their duties.

The course, of the which the dates, locations and times are yet to be determined, will teach participants in non-violent methods to calm people and individuals down, using verbal messages and holding techniques. Each workshop will be provided to 12 participants at a time, until all hospital employees who are required to take the course have completed the training.

Henderson states that hospital staff are already signing up for the course. Non- hospital staff will also be able to take the course but at a later time.

To earn his instructor's credentials, Henderson went to Oregon and took a class provided by the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc., which is based in Brookfield, Wisconsin. "I've taken other courses before, but I think this one is good," said Henderson, "and I'm excited to be providing it."

Henderson works at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital, under the Nursing Division. Henderson is married to Rose Sugar Henderson, who is YKHC's Communications Manager.

To sign up for the course, or to learn more information about it, please contact Todd Henderson at 543-6072 or todd_henderson@ykhc.org.
