Zombies are invading Bethel – again!
We were not prepared. Despite numerous reports of the outbreak in other parts of the world; we never dreamed that we would be affected. We thought we would be safe with our seclusion from the rest of the world… oh, the folly of our arrogance.
We lost many friends and family within the first few weeks of the outbreak. Only to watch in horror as they rose again to strengthen the growing numbers of the undead.
The onset of winter was a blessing.
During the cold months, the infected began to slow and eventually freeze and with that, we resigned ourselves to a semblance of control.
The people of our region are resourceful and adaptive; with the will to overcome any obstacle thrown our way. The strength of our people and the courage of our fallen have given us the chance to rebuild our society and our way of life. To commemorate our fallen heroes and our survivors; to find the individuals that represent all that we have endured; to become a beacon of hope for future generations. We are initiating the third annual Spawn of the Dead! Now, I offer this challenge to you, citizens of Bethel. Do you have what it takes to survive?
Welcome to Spawn of the Dead: Bethel Zombie Run! Do you think you’ve got what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse? Now is your chance to test your skills of evasion towards the hordes of zombies!
On August 20, 2016 the YKHC Diabetes Prevention & Control will host their third annual 5k Zombie Run.
The task is simple…
Humans – Do not succumb to the zombie threat, finish the run with your flags intact for bragging rights about your prowess and ability to laugh in the face of certain doom and survive.
Zombies – Each flag you take adds to your casualty collection and boosts your standing within the horde. Obtain as many flags as you can to strengthen your horde and take over the town.
Throughout the 5k trail, there will be infected zones with hordes of zombies. The runners are equipped with belts, with two flags attached to them, these are your lives. The zombies will attempt to grab the flags from the runners and the runners are to evade the zombies’ attacks.
The run will start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20 at the YK Fitness Center
