Alaska Native Workforce Development Increase Native Managers by 5%

The Optometry Clinic saw the successful conclusion of a five-year mentorship program that resulted in the acceptance of Thomas Kalistook, a locally born and raised Alaska Native, into Optometry school.

Thomas, the son of Bethel residents Isaac and Rita Kalistook, began working in the Eye Clinic as a summer and seasonal hire after graduating high school. He pursued a bachelor’s degree with a pre-Medical emphasis from the University of Alaska and was accepted by the Pacific University College of Optometry. He will begin attending in September, 2012.

We are very proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
