New Interim Compliance Officer

Welcome Roger Lowe as YKHC’s Interim Compliance Officer.
Roger is of Yup’ik Eskimo and Cherokee Indian descent and is originally from Anchorage. His mother is from Pilot Station, Alaska and his father is from West Virginia. Roger has resided in the YK Delta Region since 1981 and has been a resident of Bethel since 1999. Roger has five children that currently reside with him.

Roger has been the Privacy Officer for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) since December of 2005. Those responsibilities included the development and implementation of education and training programs for employees and patients; auditing and monitoring of YKHC databases and files to assure appropriate accesses; and internal investigator for reports of privacy and confidentiality concerns within the organization.

Roger’s past experience included Human Resources at YKHC; a Employment Security Specialist and Program Manager for the State of Alaska, Dept. of Labor; and a Village Public Safety Officer for the Association of Village Council Presidents.

Roger is currently a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, the American Health Information Management Association and the Health Care Compliance Association where he obtained his certification as a HIPAA Professional (CHP) in 2007. Roger is currently pursuing his Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) credential. He has also attended Haskell Indian College and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
