YKHC offers new COVID-19 boosters to protect against variants

On September 1, the CDC approved the use of updated, bivalent boosters to protect individuals from severe illness caused by COVID-19.

YKHC was approved to receive both the Pfizer and Moderna bivalent boosters. These vaccines can only be used for boosters; they cannot be used for a primary vaccination series. The Pfizer bivalent booster is recommended for people ages 12 and older and the Moderna bivalent booster for people ages 18 and older. Individuals are eligible for a bivalent booster if they received the last dose of a primary vaccine series or a prior booster at least two months ago. It is also recommended individuals get boosted three months after their most recent COVID-infection.

YKHC is offering a COVID-19 bivalent booster clinic in Bethel Tuesday, September 13, running through September 27. Vaccinations will be available by appointment in our Wellness Center Monday-Friday between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Customers can make an appointment by calling 907-543-6949.  Pfizer bivalent boosters will be offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Moderna bivalent boosters will be offered Tuesday and Thursday. Both types will be available on Saturdays.

Boosters are expected to be available in village clinics and SRCs in mid-September. To sign up for your booster in a village, please call your clinic or 908-543-6420.

Please remember to bring your CDC COVID-19 vaccination card to your appointment and plan to wait 20 minutes after your vaccination for a routine observation period.
