YKHC Remote Maintenance Worker receives state award

Allan Paukan was awarded the Alaska Operator’s Meritorious Service Award by the Alaska Water Wastewater Management Association May 10.

Allan Paukan began work for the YKHC Remote Maintenance Worker (RMW) program in 1997. In 2002 Allan was promoted to Lead RMW for the largest RMW program in the State. As an RMW, Allan works with community water systems to implement preventive maintenance schedules, serves as an instructor at water plant operator trainings and provides individualized training for operators in their community, and meets with partner organizations and community leaders about operations and maintenance of sanitation facilities.

He is available all hours of the day to help with sanitation facility emergencies. As Lead RMW, Allan provides guidance for the other three RMWs in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, and coordinates YKHC RMW activity with the State RMW office.
