One hospitalization, one medevac and twenty-three new cases of COVID-19 in the YK Delta April 9-11

On April 9, YKHC reports fifteen new cases of COVID-19 in the YK Delta.

On April 11, YKHC reports one hospitalization, one medevac and five new cases of COVID-19 in the YK Delta.

One In-Region Hospitalization
YKHC reports that one COVID-19 positive individual was admitted into the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital. This is the 151st individual hospitalized in-region due to COVID-19.

One Medevac
One COVID-19 positive individual was medevac’d out-of-region for hospitalization. This is the 43rd individual medevac’d due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Updates and Community Information

Updated COVID-19 testing hours: 

In Bethel,

Between Monday, April 4, and Friday, April 15, PCR and Binax tests will be available at the outdoor testing site across the street from the hospital between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day (EXCEPT Sunday, April 10). Individuals interested in testing out of quarantine or isolation early and close contacts of known positive cases should test at the outdoor site.

Walk-in testing for individuals who have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days is available on the first floor of the hospital, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Starting Monday, April 18, the outdoor testing site across the street from the hospital will be closed. COVID-19 testing will be available at the testing site on the first floor of the hospital. Binax tests will be available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. PCR tests will be available in the same location by request only during the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Please enter through the main entrance of the hospital.  No appointment needed.

Vaccinations: YKHC strongly encourages all people 5 years and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Booster shots:  Anyone ages 12 or older who is five months past their second shot of the Pfizer is eligible for a booster. Everyone ages 18 or older who received the Moderna vaccine more than five months ago or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months ago is also eligible. To learn more, click here.

Case statements are published the next business day after cases are identified (e.g. Monday cases are published Tuesday. Friday and weekend cases are published Monday. Cases identified over a holiday are reported the next business day.) Whenever possible, YKHC will notify patients and call the affected communities the day cases are identified
