One resident at Bethel Long Term Care facility tests positive for COVID-19

During routine weekly testing on Wednesday, November 25, one resident at the YKHC Long Term Care facility in Bethel tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 15 residents at the Long Term Care facility.

Following the positive COVID-19 test result of a non-patient care employee on November 7 and two residents on November 8, YKHC conducted facility-wide testing of all staff and residents every 72 hours for approximately two weeks. Following no additional positive test results at the facility, YKHC returned to routine surveillance testing – testing staff twice per week and residents once per week. There were no positive test results of residents or staff during this time. The case investigation for the resident who tested positive on November 25 is on-going.

The resident who tested positive is currently asymptomatic and self-isolating. The two residents who tested positive on November 8 remained asymptomatic for the duration of their COVID-19 infection and have since cleared isolation requirements.

YKHC will repeat facility-wide COVID-19 testing of all staff and residents every three days for a period of time to ensure all residents and staff are safe.
