COVID-19 testing at airport to end this weekend; Hospital testing hours remain the same

Effective Saturday, June 19, YKHC will no longer offer COVID-19 testing at the Alaska Airline terminal in Bethel. This change is being made due to decreased demand for testing at the airport. All other Bethel testing locations and hours remain the same.

Walk-in COVID-19 Binax testing is available on the first floor of the hospital in Bethel between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patients should enter through the main hospital doors (not the emergency room entrance) and indicate they are interested in a COVID test.  “Close contacts” and people showing symptoms of COVID-19 can schedule testing by calling 543-6949. In villages, please call your local clinic.

YKHC strongly recommends unvaccinated people test and/or quarantine after travel. There are two options for quarantine—a seven-day quarantine with a negative test on day 6 and day 7 OR a 10-day quarantine with no test required. The earliest an unvaccinated person should return to work with two negative tests would be on day 8 following their last day of exposure, or day 11 with no test. Other local travel or quarantine restrictions must also be followed. Fully vaccinated people do not need to test after travel unless they develop symptoms of COVID-19.  All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask at all times in airports and while traveling in a plane, taxi or other form of public transportation.
