YKHC COVID-19 Testing Criteria

Updated November 10, 2020

YKHC continues to closely monitor the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. We are working to keep our customers, employees and communities healthy. To prevent spread of the virus through our service area, we have instituted the following criteria for testing individuals for the novel coronavirus.

Testing will be offered to patients with the following:

New onset of any one of the following symptoms.

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Diminished sense of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Fever (measured or subjective)
  • Headache
  • Muscle/joint aches
  • Nausea
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Sputum production

Individuals will also be tested at provider discretion. With improved supply chain, YKHC is currently able to test broadly, including individuals admitted to the hospital, OB patients, travelers arriving from out-of-region, and asymptomatic individuals.

YKHC continues to offer free COVID-19 testing, without an appointment, at the Bethel drive-thru testing site Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Testing continues at this site, by appointment, by calling 543-6949.

Individuals who are concerned with new onset of the above symptoms should call 543-6949 in Bethel for testing referrals. In villages, call your clinic to be assisted.

YKHC is providing regular COVID-19 updates on our website at www.ykhc.org/covid-19.

COVID-19: Call Before Seeking Care

If you have symptoms like a fever, cough or shortness of breath, do not go to your village clinic and do not go to the Emergency Room in Bethel. Instead, call your village clinic, or in Bethel, call 543-6949.
