Know Your Status: Nov. 7 COVID-19 drive-thru testing event

COVID-19 can spread when you don’t have any symptoms or only mild symptoms (similar to a seasonal cold or flu bug). COVID-19 is spreading quickly, widely, and undetected in Bethel. You could be infected and unintentionally spreading this contagious and deadly disease to those you love and care for.

Knowledge is power. Don’t panic, instead know your status! YKHC, Orutsararmiut Native Council, and the City of Bethel are sponsoring a mass drive-thru COVID-19 testing event on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the CHSB parking lot (across from the hospital).

Widespread testing will help to identify undetected cases so individuals know to isolate, which will help to stop transmission of COVID-19 in our community. This testing will also help YKHC understand the extent of community-based transmission in Bethel, which will help improve control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the YK Delta.

In addition to COVID-19 testing, free flu shots will also be available as participants drive-thru. Getting a flu shot will help to prevent simultaneous COVID-19 and flu outbreaks in our communities, protecting local medical capacity during the ongoing pandemic.

Opportunity to win prizes for participating! Stay tuned to YKHC’s Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/YKHealth) to learn more about the chance to win prizes for participating in the November 7 event!

**Friendly Reminder: YKHC offers free COVID-19 testing, without an appointment, at the Bethel drive-thru testing site every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. Testing also continues by appointment at the Bethel drive-thru testing site on Monday and Friday, by calling 543-6949.
