On November 4, YKHC reports one death, one new in-region hospitalization and forty new cases of COVID-19 in the YK Delta.
One Death
It is with profound sadness YKHC reports that on November 3, a YK Delta resident in their 80s died due to complications of COVID-19. The next of kin have been notified. YKHC sends our deepest condolences to the loved ones mourning the loss of this individual. This is the 40th COVID-19 death associated with the YK Delta region.
One In-Region Hospitalization
One COVID-19 positive individual was admitted into the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital. This is the 114th individual hospitalized in-region due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Updates and Community Information
Vaccinations: The FDA and CDC gave final approval for the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. YKHC will administer vaccines for that age group starting November 4. For more details, see the statement HERE on our website
YKHC strongly encourages all people 5 years and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Booster shots: Most YK Delta residents 18 or older who are 6 months past their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are eligible for a booster. Everyone ages 18 or older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months ago is also eligible.

COVID-19 testing: All people who are experiencing symptoms (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or diminished sense of taste or smell) or who are a close contact of known positive cases are encouraged to get tested as soon as possible.
- In Bethel, mobile testing is available in the parking lot across from the hospital from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Testing is also available on the first floor of the hospital (enter through the main doors). Walk-ins available or call 543-6949 to schedule an appointment.

Additionally, continue to practice protective measures such as practicing regular hand-washing, avoiding hosting or attending large gatherings, and frequently disinfecting high-touch surfaces.
