On October 25, YKHC reports one death, one medevac and fourteen new cases of COVID-19 in the YK Delta.

One Death
It is with profound sadness YKHC reports that on October 24 a YK Delta resident in their 60s died due to complications of COVID-19. The next of kin have been notified. YKHC sends our deepest condolences to the loved ones mourning the loss of this individual. This is the 36th COVID-19 death associated with the YK Delta region.

One Medevac
One COVID-19 positive individual was medevac’d out-of-region for hospitalization. This is the 34th individual medevac’d due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Updates and Community Information

Vaccinations: YKHC strongly encourages all people 12 years and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Pfizer booster: COVID-19 booster shots are now available for certain individuals who completed a two-dose series of the Pfizer vaccine and are six months past the second dose of vaccine.

COVID-19 testing: All people who are experiencing symptoms (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or diminished sense of taste or smell) or who are a close contact of known positive cases are encouraged to get tested as soon as possible. 

  • In Bethel, mobile testing is available in the parking lot across from the hospital from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Testing is also available on the first floor of the hospital (enter through the main doors). Walk-ins available or call 543-6949 to schedule an appointment. 
  • In surrounding communities, call your local clinic for more information.

Additionally, continue to practice protective measures such as practicing regular hand-washing, avoiding hosting or attending large gatherings, and frequently disinfecting high-touch surfaces.

Case statements are published the next business day after cases are identified (e.g. Monday cases are published Tuesday. Friday and weekend cases are published Monday. Cases identified over a holiday are reported the next business day.) Whenever possible, YKHC will notify patients and call the affected communities the day cases are identified
